1936 Indian Traffic Car Beer Wagon Like all Traffic Cars built at the Indian Motorcycle factory in Springfield, Massachusetts, this one started life out as an Indian Scout. It was powered by the same 42-degree, 45 cubic inch V-twin as the two-wheeled model. Then, workers bolted a massive steel subframe to the rear of the bike and installed a jackshaft where the rear wheel should go. Sprockets on each side of the jackshaft turned drive chains to each rear axle, offering two wheel drive. The van is insulated to hold the ice. This bike also includes the original Koehler Graphics from Clarion, Pennsylvania. Koehler Beer is believed to be the first brewer to offer a 6 pack. This traffic car, no doubt, also advertised their product. This traffic car was acquired in 2004 from Rocky Halter of Rocky's Indian, located in Massillion, Ohio. |
